1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
- 1.1These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website operated by CrownField Legal LLP (“the Website”), and set out the general terms applicable to any engagement of CrownField Legal’s services (“Services”), whether as a prospective client, existing client, or general visitor to the Website.
1.2CrownField Legal is a law firm duly registered and operating under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with offices in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and other parts of Nigeria. References in these Terms to “CrownField Legal LLP,” “CrownField Legal,” “the Firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to CrownField Legal LLP, its partners, associates, employees, representatives and agents, as the context requires.
1.3References to “you,” “your,” “User,” or “Client” refer to any individual or entity accessing the Website or engaging the Firm’s Services, as the context requires.
- 1.4By accessing or using the Website, or by engaging the Firm’s Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms in full. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must discontinue use of the Website and must not engage the Firm’s Services.
- 1.5These Terms should be read alongside the Firm’s separate Privacy Policy, and, where applicable, any Engagement Letter or fee agreement entered into between you and the Firm. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and an Engagement Letter, the Engagement Letter shall take precedence in respect of the specific matter it governs.
2. No Attorney-Client Relationship Arising From Website Use
- 2.1Access to or use of the Website, including but not limited to browsing its content, reading published articles, or submitting a general enquiry through any contact form, telephone call, email, or messaging platform, does not, of itself, create an attorney-client relationship between you and the Firm.
Important
2.2An attorney-client relationship shall only come into existence upon the express written agreement of the Firm, evidenced by a duly executed Engagement Letter or fee agreement, signed by an authorised representative of the Firm and by you or your authorised representative.
2.3Until such an Engagement Letter is executed, any information provided by you to the Firm, whether through the Website, telephone, email, or in person, shall not be treated as having been provided in the context of a formal attorney-client relationship, save as expressly provided under Clause 3 below.
- 2.4You acknowledge and accept that no member, partner, associate, or representative of the Firm is authorised to create an attorney-client relationship on behalf of the Firm other than through the formal process described in this Clause 2.
3. Free Consultations and Confidentiality of Pre-Engagement Communications
A free consultation is a conversation, not a commitment on either side, and what you share stays private.
- 3.1The Firm offers a complimentary initial consultation (“Free Consultation”) to prospective clients, for the purpose of enabling the Firm to understand a prospective client’s circumstances and to enable the prospective client to understand how the Firm may be able to assist.
- 3.2No legal advice is given, and no attorney-client relationship is formed, during a Free Consultation. Any discussion during a Free Consultation is preliminary in nature and shall not be relied upon as legal advice applicable to your specific circumstances.
- 3.3Notwithstanding Clause 3.2, the Firm shall treat any information disclosed to it during a Free Consultation as confidential, and shall not disclose such information to third parties save as required by law or with your express consent.
- 3.4You are nonetheless advised, for your own protection, to exercise discretion regarding the disclosure of highly sensitive information during a Free Consultation, given that formal legal advice tailored to your specific circumstances has not yet commenced at that stage.
- 3.5The Firm reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to decline to proceed with an engagement following a Free Consultation, including where the Firm determines that a conflict of interest exists, that the matter falls outside the Firm’s areas of practice, or for any other reason the Firm considers appropriate and lawful.

14.2 For visitors from the European Union or United Kingdom
The Firm has regard to the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) in handling data relating to visitors accessing the Website from the European Union or United Kingdom.

For full details on how the Firm collects, uses, stores, processes, transmits, and protects personal data, please refer to the Firm’s separate Privacy Policy, which shall prevail over this Clause 14 in the event of any inconsistency.
